BRRRRAAAIIIINNNNN....!!!

One of the things I try to do with the daycare kids every summer is shoot a movie. The last one was actually shot two summers ago and edited last summer. It was written by the older Madison, and entitled "The Three Maidens". This year, the boys requested that they get to write the script, and they actually had the basic movie plotted before school got out.

The title: "When Zombies Attack".

Believe it or not, the props required for this movie are a little more challenging than making the porch look like a castle. For one thing, we need "brains" that the zombies can suck with a straw.

I almost bought a brain-shaped jell-o mold at the after-Halloween sales last year, but had decided against it, because our haunted garage is not supposed to be gross or scary, but campy and fun. Lesson learned.

So, we spent a couple days a few weeks ago coming up with our own version of a jell-o mold... we finally figured out we could take a double-width of yarn, tape it to the inside of a small metal bowl, cover it with tin foil and use it for the mold using vanilla pudding and red jell-o. The results are cartoonishly gore-like, the perfect effect for a kids' zombie flick. Fun, but not realistic enough to actually be disturbing.
