We had a very busy weekend - I co-officiated the commitment ceremony of my cousin Deedee and her now-husband, Mark, on Saturday. As with any wedding, it absorbed the entire weekend and the days around it - but more about that on a later post. I mention it only because having my hands full with the wedding caused me to have NO time to even call my darling nephew, Ben, to congratulate him on a HUGE milestone that happened Saturday.
BEN CELEBRATED HIS SEVENTH BIRTHDAY!
I was very disappointed in myself for leaving his gift in Cedar Rapids when we went to the reception dinner in the Amanas - Mom and Dad left from there to go down to Ben's house to help him celebrate his birthday, so I didn't even get to send him the gift we bought for him at the Mall of America last weekend. ARRRGGH!
I am a BAD aunty! But that doesn't mean I love Ben any less. He is an awesome kid - and one of my personal heroes.
Ben is a very intelligent and spiritual young man, who leads and ministers to adults and children alike through his own bravery and kind heartedness. He's a super-duper big brother, too. His little brother, Alex, looks up to him with great reverence, and Ben sets a great example for his young apprentice to follow.
BEN: Julio, Harrison and I love you very much and hope you had the most perfect birthday ever - you deserve nothing but the BEST!
